New Year—New Beginnings

“Keep your faith in beautiful things; in the sun when it is hidden, in the spring when it is gone.”– Roy R. Gibson

It’s over now; Christmas, New Year’s Eve, PJ time, and a new year has just begun—a time when we reflect and make promises to ourselves, a time to change, a time to create a new you.  Like the holidays a new year and a new you is full of promise as well as challenge.

Personally I don’t believe in making New Year’s resolutions—if there is an area in your life that needs improvement I feel it’s best to get to work on it immediately—but I do believe in new beginnings.

We have all had to push past the pain from previous disappointments and give birth to a new way of thinking, and quite often a new you and a new way of life. It is these experiences that qualify you to be YOU. Every good experience, every bad experience, every smile, every tear, every bruise, every broken bit, every joy, every wish you ever made, every emotion you ever felt and the genes that make up YOU have all played a part in who you are but it is important not to define yourself by your past. You are not your past challenges or circumstances. They only played a part in your life and created the lesson to help you learn and continue to grow. No matter how bad the situation looked or felt, you were equipped to handle whatever you faced yesterday, last week, last month, last year, because today, you’re still standing. Allow that victory to propel you to something greater.

There is amazing inspiration in all of us, which sometimes takes great adversity, heart ache and challenges for it to be revealed. But when it is revealed it is so powerful and will change lives forever. Inspiration fills our heart with determination and passion, which allows us to find our purpose. It ignites the flame from within to achieve greatness in our life.

As 2013 stretches before you believe in YOU and know you have the power to be the ‘new’ or ‘old but slightly improved new you’ in 2013 regardless of hard circumstances all around. The change can be as something as simple as a smile. Sharing a smile with someone you know and someone you don’t know, someone you love and even someone you don’t love. It is something so simple that can change someone’s day, week, year or it could even change someone’s life.

In 2013 question the status quo and ask more questions, dig deeper and open your hearts wider to inspire more, to laugh louder and to smile bigger and brighter than ever. Each day of this year and for the rest of your life is an opportunity to be better than the day before. It is in our best interest to take advantage of today, because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Look at every problem in your life and see it as an opportunity to grow and develop. Believe that everything in life happens for a reason and focus on shifting your mindset to a new awareness that will lead to a new beginning. New beginnings present themselves in every moment when there is awareness in our hearts. Living with awareness makes the world a better place. Today and everyday you can change the world and make it not good but great for you and everyone else by keeping the faith in beautiful things and believing in you, old or new. Happy New Beginnings!
